Williton Recreation Ground

Due to continuing problems with the old community building on the recreation ground and the high cost of maintenance, the Trustees have agreed to prioritise the replacement of the building and have asked the architect who provided a design for a new pavilion back in 1998, to update the drawings and submit a new planning application on behalf of the charity. The Trustees believe that any application for funding would be looked on more favourably if they are in a position to build on receipt of the necessary financing. The new pavilion building will be sited at the rear of the doctors’ surgery near to the old green shed which would be demolished. The old community building would also be partially demolished leaving part of the building standing for storage. Once the drawings have been received a copy will be available to view in the Parish Office during our normal opening hours.

Williton Christmas Festivities

It is hoped to hold a late afternoon festive event on Wednesday 19 December starting with a carol service at St Peters church followed by a festive gathering on Bellamy’s corner.  We anticipate that the village shops will stay open a little later to enable some last minute Christmas shopping and Williton Chamber of Commerce plan to have a competition for the children that will involve visiting various shops and businesses to find the festive answers to a fun competition - more information will be available soon and the event will be promoted on posters, in the next Williton Window and in the local paper

Williton Youth Club Future Provisions

Minehead Eye together with Somerset Youth and Community Service have found the funding to keep Williton Youth club open for another year.   This funding will be allocated via the Parish Council who will pass all the funding on directly to Minehead EYE who have worked extremely hard to achieve the continuation of this and other local youth services.  Minehead Eye will continue to run the service and provide the Youth workers.  If you have any ideas for enhancement of this service or how it can be funded in years to come please do contact Williton Parish Council Clerk on 01984 633979 or willitonpc@btconnect.com

VACANCIES ON PARISH COUNCIL

Since the resignation of Ian Hall we now have 2 vacancies on the Parish Council. Our present members are working hard on projects within the village, recreation ground and a new community hall but urgently need help in order to continue with projects that will be for the benefit of Williton and the community.

If you feel you have time to give to these projects, and others you may be interested in, please consider joining the Parish Council. You will find it an interesting and worthwhile experience.

Please contact the Parish Clerk, Jude Johnson-Smith for more information on 01984 633979 or email willitonpc@btconnect.com
